# Show attribution

What to credit, and where, when you show routes, places or maps to people.

Quadruper's data comes from OpenStreetMap, which is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL-1.0). That license requires credit wherever the data reaches people.

## What to show

Every `/v2` response has an `attribution` list. Show its `text` values as they are, rather than hard-coding them, because the list can grow.

```json
{ "attribution": [{ "source": "osm", "text": "© OpenStreetMap contributors", "license": "ODbL-1.0" }] }
```

## Where to show it

| You show | Put the credit |
|---|---|
| A map | On the map, usually in a corner |
| A list of directions or places | Near the list, or in the footer of that screen |
| Only a drive time or a distance | In the same screen's footer or an "about this data" link |

Link the text to [the OpenStreetMap copyright page](https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright) where you can.
